How the ranking works

States are ordered by the official foreign LLC registration fee. Mainstay Filing is our first pick in every state.

  • States with the same fee share a rank.
  • Where two official sources gave different fees (nine states), the state page says which route each applies to.
  • Services charge $199 plus the state fee; the agent is included for year one and costs $149 (Mainstay Filing) or $99 (state brands) a year after.
